My 3 Hour Drive

Creating a new jewelry collection is intense - from the vision in your mind, to the design aspect to putting that vision on paper and then a physical piece. Being a perfectionist does not help the matter. At times it takes all your energy to continue, and that’s when the self-doubt sets in. In those times I tend to stop all the thoughts and turn to music to find inspiration.  Being such a lover of music, we are not just talking about turning on the radio…oh no, its diving head first into albums, from dissecting lyrics to listening to the same line in a verse over and over again to really understand what the artist was trying to say.

Rewind to September 2020, or as I like to call it, 10 Covids ago.  Alicia Keys' seventh studio album Alicia was released. I was hooked.  This album is a raw view into the world of a strong woman still fighting her own demons, but not holding back and persevering.

This is an album which not only shows how powerful you are, but also how to get back up after you have given it your all and feel like you have nothing else to give. It’s a 2020 anthem to self care.  From tracks like Time Machine, So Done and Underdog, to a Netflix documentary called "Song Exploder", which dives into the song “3 Hour Drive”, revealing two different perspectives of the same verse: the joy of a newborn baby and the death of a loved one.

In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, when asked about self care Alicia said: “One part of the self care [routine] I'm using 1000% is understanding my feelings and emotions, and being able to verbalize them immediately. I find that being able to just honestly express [things] in a way where it's not lingering, or taking 20 more years because you held it in for so long, has given me truly a beautiful self-care mechanism.”

Here at Splash, we spent the month of October speaking about emotional wellness, something that Suzy and I feel very strongly about. As my loving wife said in last month's journal on emotional wellness “I’m here to tell you that you – and only you – have the power to focus and shift your emotional health.  No one will do it for you, and you must be willing to put in the work.  I promise you, it will be the most rewarding work you’ve ever done.” This statement is so true and no doubt, it has to come from you.  But sometimes, great music can help. It may be a verse that helps you realize what you have been trying to say, but just couldn’t find the words till that moment, that’s the power of music for me.

With that said, I am very proud to present the Girl on Fire Collection.

The Girl on Fire collection is one of our largest collections to date, with a total of 45 pieces, including necklaces, chokers, bracelets, cuffs, earrings and hoops, all of which are sure to make a statement for their boldness. Pair up pieces such as my personal favorite - Like the Sea Necklace - which features an oversized Gucci-style link chain, with our Empire State of Mind Choker.  Both of these styles are heavily inspired by New York City in the 90's.  Staying true to our delicate style and balance, you'll also find timeless pieces such as the Dreaming Necklace and A Woman's Worth Necklace.  No matter your mood, your style or your vibe, our Girl on Fire Collection is sure to make a statement.

We hope that these pieces make you feel bold and help you navigate through your personal “3 Hour Drive.”
